Master Bedroom + Closet

I think I'm finally ready to show a little part of the inside of our house. I've tried to get our master bedroom in order as best as I could. If anything I wanted our master bedroom to feel comfortable while we are trying to get every other part of the house in order.
(I apologize ahead of time for the bad picture quality. I can't find my camera charger so I had to use my phone.)

Our bed came from Relics in Abilene. It was in it's raw wood state, a good price and they painted it black for us. All of our furniture, besides the long dresser, were a wedding gift from my parents. Some of our bedding came from Old Bryan Market Place in downtown Bryan such as the linen comforter, shams and front pillow. Some of the other stuff I got on sale at different places. I wanted our bedding to be pretty neutral so I wouldn't get tired of it anytime soon and I didn't want anything too girly so I think this works. This was actually my bedding the past few years in college too when we weren't married, I loved it so much I wanted to keep it for our bed as well.
As you can see I don't ilke things to match. Our side tables don't match and neither do the lamps. Addison's side table (on your right) came from Junk it in Abilene and mine came from Market in Dallas. Our lamps are from Jordan Taylor from a long time ago. The picture above our bed was a little DIY project I did a few weeks ago. I saw it on a blog and tried to recreate it. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a large canvas, wait until they are 50% off, ripped out book pages from two different books, glued them, modge podged over them and painted a "T". We needed something for over our bed so that is where it resides right now. Cheap and easy!

Once again, bad picture quality. Anyways, the double doors lead into our closest which I will get into in a minute. Excuse the big ugly fan, our room stays really hot in this summer heat. I am planning on printing a few of my bridals and a few of Addison to put on that empty wall. The mirror came from Hobby Lobby on sale.

The long dresser came from Junk It as well. The gold mirror was my grandmothers which I am planning on painting a silvery gold color(?) to go more with the lamps and not stand out so much.

This eventually will be a reading corner. I'm getting a chair soon from my parents that they don't need anymore and will add a lamp at some point.

This poor area....the dresser came from Junk It. I have no ideas so far as to what to do here. When Add and I lived in the apartment the tv became a bit of an issue. I wanted to watch what I wanted to, he wanted to watch his shows, we ended up not spending much time together...you get the idea. So, we have decided not to have a tv in the room. However, I thought it would be fun to have this little one in there that way we could watch movies some nights on the weekends. (It's not hooked up to cable or anything). Every time we walk by the dresser though the floor creeks and the tv moves and it is really annoying so the tv will probably be going out again and I will have to find out something to do above the dresser.
The door on the left goes out into the hallway leading towards the living room. Next is our closet! When we moved in the closet was pretty small. The people that lived there before us did not make good use of the space at all. My DIY husband went to work and made me my dream closet! Off of the guest bedroom there was a little room that backed up to our already existing closet so we decided to take 3/4 of that and connect it to the master closet and take the other fourth and make a new guest bedroom closet. We have big plans for that room as well that I won't get into right now.

Add rebuilt the shelves on the right, his uncle built the shelves on the left.

We literally have shelving in every inch of the closet now where there used to be none! That opening is where they knocked the wall out and extended the closet.

Looking from within the new closet out to the old closet.

Jewelry dresser from my Grandmama.

So there it is! Our master bedroom and closet. I love it all so far and am so happy the way things have turned out. We still have so much to do but we have realized that it is just going to take a lot of time to get things how we want it. Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Lately

Thought I would update on mine and Addison's life lately....school has really been starting to wear on me. Finance and Philosophy everyday is not fun! I also go to tutoring every day for 2 hours so my brain is usually fried by the end of the day and all I want to do is sleep. I even broke down the other day with tutor because I think my brain is just so full of information and it couldn't hold anything else. She was super sweet and started all over and made sure that I understood what I had to learn that day. I only have a week and a half to go...I can do it! I have to say though that I have truly felt the Lord's presence with me this whole time. Even when I'm on the verge of wanting to quit and go home I can feel Him giving me the strength to get through.

Add and I went 2 weeks this time around not seeing each other so I am beyond excited to go home this weekend to be with him and my family. My family here is of course so good to me. You can't beat Misty's homecookin' and the kids always doing hilarious things.

As I am trying to round up classes I am also looking for a job to come home to. I've checked out a few things so be in prayer that the Lord leads to what I am supposed to be doing! Add is working hard as usual at home. I am so proud to be married to such a hardworking and supportive man. He is so good to me even when I don't deserve it.

As far as the house goes, all the painting is done on the outside and all the shutters are on! I looks like a completely different house. We ripped out a ton of landscaping so that will be our next project when I go home for good. The inside is coming together...we still have a lot to do though. I will try to remember to take pictures of the outside so I can share them.

That's our life right now! We hope you have a blessed week!

2 down, 3 to go

You know that commercial where the girl is at her computer on Facebook and her parents are out having a blast without her? My life exactly. My parents are in Mexico for their 31st anniversary and I am in school everyday. lame.
Parents view from their balcony...talk about paradise.
Last week Add rotated to the Sales department. He presented a project that he had been working on to make everyone's life a little bit easier. He really is a genius. (I don't know why he picked me to marry, but the boys got good looks AND brains!) Anyways, the sales people of course loved his idea and will be implementing it in the future. I would tell you what the project is but I don't want to totally embarrass Add as his wife so I will let him explain it to you if you ask him. He also went to his first work party, which are super fun. I went to one a few years ago with a friend who worked part time at FDLIC and it wasn't no ordinary work party. The theme this time around was "redneck".  My hubby makes one cute redneck.
I'm sad I missed it but hopefully I will never have to miss any every again!
This past weekend I drove to Abilene again, but this time I took the two boys with me to stay with their GayGay and Pa for the weekend, which they LOVE doing. Saturday, Pa and Addison painted our entertainment center and it looks awesome!! We also swam, ate some good food, got in some quality time with Add, did a little craft project and did a lot of laundry.
Silly Levi on the way to Abilene.
Finished entertainment center! Now on to decorating it...

So this project is from a blog that I found a while back. We have some wall space that needs to be filled and I had been wanting to try this so I found some time on Saturday, hit up Hobby Lobby and got started. I started with a big canvas, ripped out some pages of two different books, glued them on, modge podged over it all, found a cool looking "T" and painted it on. Cheap, simple and looks pretty cool to me. I don't know where it will go, if anywhere at all but it was fun making it. Crafts are a de-stressor for me. I'm not that creative but if I have directions I can pretty much follow something and make it. Next on the agenda is a book page wreath. I heard it takes a while so who knows when I'll get to it.

The boys played hard all weekend. We were all pretty tired so the fact that they slept 2 1/2 hours on the way home was just fine with me. (and I got to sneak in this precious picture) They definitely make the trips more exciting when they are awake though.
One thing that I will definitely miss though about living with the Heifrins is this sweet little girl.
She immediately climbed into my car and pretended like she was driving...diamond ring and all. Misty and I got a crack out of this!
Jency says, "Thank you GayGay for all my new pool toys!"

Stuck In School

Well I'm back in school and it stinks. Wanna know why?...I'm away from husband, away from my parents, away from friends and family in Abilene, I have to pretty much being doing some sort of school work all day every day, I have a new house that I'm not even able to enjoy and because I get up so early and get home late I can't even really fully enjoy being with my family that is here in College Station.

Ok, so I had to vent for a minute. This is why I have the blog anyways right? Well, I am in school but there are some good things that have come out of it as well...I am so happy and beyond thankful that my sister and brother-in-law have invited me into their home for 6 weeks. They feed me, let me take over their guest bedroom, spend time with their kids, watch their TV, give me privacy when I need it, help me in Finance when I have no idea what I'm doing and so many other things. Lord, thank your for such sweet family to embrace and love me while I am here. They really are a true blessing. I am also so thankful that I am lucky enough to even have the opportunity to attend college, especially at A&M. Thank you mom and dad for supporting me and giving me the chance to get an A&M degree. I'm thankful of how much I miss Addison. This separation has really let us know how much we really mean to each other and how big a part we both play in each other's lives.

When I got in last Sunday I immediately called my cousin-in-law Bethanne, who just had a baby girl, Tyler Ann. It was her and Clint's first baby and they sure are proud parents. Misty and I headed over to their house and couldn't wait to see her; she of course was absolutely adorable.
I know I look a mess...this is what traveling will do to ya.

Would look at that gorgeous hair!
The start of school went pretty smoothly. I am in class from 8:00-9:35 (Philosophy), study until 11:30, class again from 12:00-1:35 (Finance), study more from 1:45-3:30, tutoring from 3:45-5:30 and more tutoring until 8:00 some days. I got Monday off, went to school Tuesday and then got Wednesday off for the 4th. I slept in, read a little, studied a lot then went to a fireworks show with the Heifrin's.

Jency girl

Thursday was spent doing schoolwork, studying and getting ready to go home for the weekend! Meanwhile, Addison started his next rotation in his leadership development program. He spent the week in maintenance and really enjoyed it. He got to get out of the office and be the handy man for the week. He is the most well-rounded guy I know. He can put on a suit, go to business meetings all day, come up with amazing ideas but can also put on some old jeans and fix pretty much anything. He's the best.

Friday I had those two classes and then I hit the road! When I got there Addison had two of my favorite things waiting for me at home...

like i said he's the best.

Friday night was one of my best friend's, Lauren Keenum (now Robbins) rehearsal, rehearsal dinner and lingerie shower. Everything went so smoothly during the rehearsal and we had such a fun night after. Saturday morning was spent waking up early, eating breakfast and getting ready. Some of the girls asked me to do their makeup and I was more than delighted. I have found a love of doing makeup over the past couple years. Lauren, of course looked absolutely gorgeous for her afternoon wedding at Beltway Park.
Cookies for the lingerie shower
Bradye McQueen and Kaitlin Awalt--2 of my good friends!
Finally together!
Lauren's talented photographer
So happy to see this sweet girl!
The BEAUTIFUL Mrs. Robbins

Loved the bridesmaids dresses, good job Lauren!
After the wedding Add and I went to my parents and immediately passed out on the couch. I was exhausted from the wedding and he...well who doesn't need a good Saturday afternoon nap? We had a delicious dinner and then headed to our house for the night. This morning I got up, did a few loads of laundry and tried to straighten up as much as possible for Add. Our house is done being painted but I forgot to take a picture of it before I left. This is the picture that Addison sent to me last week when he put 2 of the shutters up...

You get the idea. We are going for more a country cottage kind of look. I have always loved a red front door, tan house, white trim and black shutters and I finally got it! It matches the neighborhood and totally transformed the house. We are now going to start putting in some landscaping to give the yard some color and hopefully it will keep looking better and better!

Another project Add has been working since I've been gone is an entertainment center. Him and his uncle have been building us one since they are so stinkin' expensive in stores and we will get one probably twice the quality and the exact look we want for a fourth of the price if not less. Here it is at the stage it was in tonight...

It's still got a little bit to go but I'll keep you updated!

That's about it! We hope you have a blessed week!

Back to school

I'm officially writing from College Station, Tx. Here's a recap of the past week leading up to today:

-Last week was filled with running errands and getting any last things done before leaving for one of my best friends bachelorette party on Friday. I was able to spend a few days with my new sister-in-law Courtney, and was able to catch up on married life and girl stuff! She made me yummy strawberry crepes for breakfast one morning and I can't wait to have them again!

-My best friend and cousin, Keri has helped me get through my classes this summer. I do not know what I would do without her and all her help. She has helped keep me motivated and has held me accountable. Thursday night Addison and I were so happy to be able to watch Carter, Chandler and Kinley while her and J went out to eat and headed over to ACU where Laurel was performing. Laurel had been at camp all week and they had been learning an act to perform and she picked sign-language. I heard it stole the show and of course our Laurel did great. I was so happy to the kids over for a few hours. We played hide and go seek, cooked macaroni, ate fudge sickles and had to bathe and wash clothes because they got a little messy! I would love nothing more than to have kids sooner than later but having 3 kiddos over at one time is a good way to know that we are definitely not ready for that everyday quite yet. However, I would have them over anytime, it is so worth the craziness.
Running errands earlier in the day with powered sugar mouths
Bath time
Kinley unrolled the whole role of toilet paper
Man I love them so much1!!

-Friday morning I woke at 7:00 to the painters getting started on our house! Normally I would be a little grouchy this early in the morning but I was super excited for them to get started and I had a lot of errands to run that morning so it worked out. Addison sent me this picture today of the progress of the house:
Before

and during

I am so excited to see how it turns out!!

-The rest of Friday morning was spent getting last minute things for Lauren's bachelorette weekend, getting my bridesmaid dressed hemmed, starbucks, and picking up my mom so we could spend a little time together before I had to leave...oh and the dreaded goodbye to Add.

-Lauren's bachelorette weekend was so much fun! We were going to go to a lake house at Possom Kingdom but the house got flooded so at the last minute I changed it to San Marcos and thought we could float the river. Lauren's sister-in-law Kimberly stepped in and helped me get it all planned the week before we left. I don't know what I would have done without her. I was in the middle of still getting over being sick, feeling really tired, trying to get done with two classes, getting a bunch of house things done and so much more. I felt like the world was on my shoulders so this weekend couldn't have come at a better time. We got to San Marcos Friday night, ate dinner and went back to the hotel and had so much fun playing games and just having girl time! Saturday we floated the Comal River and it was too much fun! Today, I woke up refreshed and ready to go. I had a minor freak out when I found out that my blanket that my Grandmama got me a long time ago was taken up by the maid. So of course I spend way too much time trying to communicate to the non-English speaking maid that I need to find my blanket and ASAP! She finally caught on to it and about 10 minutes later knocked on the door and it was like someone just handed me a fist-full of diamonds. Anyone have anything silly like that but it is way too special to ever lose? That would be my blanket, or blankie I call it in secret. Don't judge...  We made a quick stop to the San Marcos outlet malls where we found some good deals and got in some last few minutes with my girls before heading to College Station.

This was about when I realized I hadn't changed my oil in forever; so I found a Wal-Mart and then hit the road. Luckily between my mom, Addison, Courtney and Lauren (Tuttle), I didn't have to go more than twenty-minutes without talking to someone which was good because I am pretty sad about being four hours away from everyone, especially my hubby. I didn't think it would be this hard but man, long-distance stinks! I was happy to get to College Station and be welcomed with a hug by one of my sweet friends, Lauren Tuttle who is actually from San Marcos.

We got some dinner, a crepe, walked around Target, played with makeup and now I am staying with her in my old apartment before I was married. I keep reminding myself that school is only for five weeks and once these two classes are over I will be done with classes on campus forever. It is just so hard to see the light at the end right now.

-Classes don't start unit Tuesday so tomorrow will be spent buying books, finishing up the last class for summer 1 session and mentally preparing myself for the next 5 weeks. Pray that they go by fast and the Lord will be Add and I! We hope you have a blessed week!
