Hittin' the highway

This past Thursday we hit Highway 6 again to go home for Abe and Courtney's first wedding shower! We went home Thursday so we could spend some time with my parents before the busy weekend. They wanted to go out to eat so I suggested Perini's :) I tried to get a few pictures of Add and I because we really haven't taken that many at all this semester.

Friday I ran some fun errands with my mom and Mawmaw (my mom's mom). We went to the mall, Jordan Taylor, and the cute new custom flip-flop store in Abilene. Friday night I headed over to Addison's parents house where they were doing some landscaping and putting in a sprinkler system in the new house. There was a bit of a sickness going around so Addison didn't have a very fun Friday night. Saturday he worked a little bit outside and then took a nap and slept until around 4:30. Luckily he woke up refreshed and ready to go! The wedding shower, Saturday night was so pretty, they couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening.

Can you even handle this little girl in her cute pink ruffle outfit? I couldn't, I had to get a picture.

Sunday we played with Annalee for a while longer and talked more about some job details/budget/married life in Abilene and watched The Bourne Identity. Annalee was hilarious watching TV.

Last but not least, Addison starts work in Abilene at FDLIC on May 21st!! We will move home the week after he graduates and will spending the next 6 or so months living in his parents barn apartment until we can find a place of our own. We are so thankful that they are willing to let us live there. We have been praying for a job opportunity like this for a very long time, not even thinking that we would be lucky enough for it to be in Abilene. We feel SO blessed for Addison to be working for a company like this with really endless possibilities and amazing benefits. The only downside is that I will be having to move back to College Station for the month of July to finish up my campus time here at A&M. I will be so happy when we are all settled in and making a life in Abilene. The Lord has been so good to us during our first year of marriage and we know that it will continue to get even better!

As fast as the weather is changing, so are our lives.

Addison and I had a wonderful, relaxing Spring Break in Abilene. We stayed with his parents half the time--lots of NCIS, cutting down trees, family time, ping pong and nice jogs down Bacacita. We spent the second half at my parents house where we had a few cookouts, brother and cousins birthday celebrations, laundry, playing outside with the dogs, snuggling with my daddy, and running errands with my momma. I didn't feel like we had enough time there and definitely didn't get to see everyone I wanted to or spend enough time with the people I did see but it's ok because...there is a good chance we will be moving back to Abilene in May. We are over the moon excited.

There are have been so many 'unknowns' this semester and we are so happy to finally have a direction for where we will be heading to next. Addison has some good job prospects so I will update you as I know more about what he will be doing. As for me, I will be moving back with him in May (that is if God doesn't throw us a curveball at the last second) and staying in Abilene until the beginning of July. We will be living in his parents barn that they did up really nice for a couple of months until we can find a house. July 3rd I have to move back here to College Station to finish up a class that I have to take on campus--FINC 409, yuck! Meanwhile I will be staying with Misty and Frank (Addison's sister and brother-in-law) for that month being their built-in babysitter. Then I will be heading back to Abilene at the first of August to be with Addison again.

We started to pack up some things like our guest closet that was filled to the top with odds and ends from when we moved in, all of our silver and glass stuff and some clothes. Even though we still have about 2 months left in this apartment we are so ready to start getting things to Abilene and starting our lives as husband and wife there. Don't get me wrong, we will miss College Station so much. We have met some really nice couples here and have actually made a little life here for the time being but our hearts are in Abilene.

This week has flown by. We're in our last round of tests so it seems like everything is in hyper-mode now trying to get it all wrapped up. We will be heading to Abilene tomorrow for my brother-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law's couple's shower on Saturday which we are very excited for. So keep us in your prayers for safe travel to and from Abilene and for our anxious hearts right now as we are having to make some major decisions regarding the rest of our lives!

God bless!

Last piece, I promise!

Remember this from this past weekend? Well as I am eating my last piece I will share with you this delicious recipe that I found from here

First, the only to shop for the ingredients for this recipe is to get a pedicure and then walk around HEB wearing the disposable flip-flops they give you. Here is what you'll need:
1 box of white cake mix
3 tbs flour
1 (3 oz) box strawberry jello
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1 cup frozen strawberries, thawed and chopped up
4 eggs
Combine cake mix, jello and water. Add oil and eggs, one at a time, beating well between each. Add chopped strawberries, beat for 2 minutes. Pour batter into well greased 9x13 pan  or 2 circle pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35-45 minutes.

For the icing:
1/2 stick butter
4 oz cream cheese, softened (or 1/2 of a  1 (8oz) cream cheese package if your confused)
5 oz pkg frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed and pureed
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar (add more if needed)
Put in a mixer, mix well and pour over cake!

It sure is yummy! Now go make it so I won't feel so guilty eating almost the whole cake. :)

Keri inspired me when she told me that for the whole month of February she didn't eat any sweets or drink any sodas. If you know us at all you know that is HUGE. We are pretty much the same person when it comes to Dr. Pepper and sweets. Anytime we are together you can probably guarantee both of those will be included. So for this month starting...tomorrow...and through April 6 I will not be drinking ANY sodas or eating ANY desserts (my real weakness is when we go out and I want both) so I will be making even more meals at home and eating no real sweets or desserts. I will keep you updated and you have to keep me accountable! Ok Mom and Keri?! Because I'm pretty sure you 2 are the only ones that read this.

Please continue to keep me and Add in your daily prayers as we are very anxious about our upcoming life changes (moving, graduating and many more important decisions coming our way).
Thank you and bless you!

Girls Weekend

Remember when I said that my mom was coming to visit last Thursday? Well I got a big surprise when she pulled up and Keri and the two little ones, Chandler and Kinley were with her!! I was SO happy to see all of them, it was such a great surprise! The girls pretty much took over the apartment for the weekend (sorry Addison). We also got a few knocks on our floor from the lady below...oops. We ate at On the Border for night 1 and rented The Help but only got through half of it. Friday morning we got ready and stopped by Old Navy to get Chandler some new flip-flops and do a little shopping. We then headed to Downtown Bryan and ate at Madden's and had one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. We shopped some more at Old Bryan Marketplace (mom's favorite store here) but didn't find much this time. We then headed back towards the apartment and stopped by Charli's because I had heard that their designer jeans were 75% off!!! The little girls were pretty tired by this time so came back to the apartment so they could take a nap.

My mom was so sweet and let Keri and I get pedicures and go to the grocery store to gather up some goods for me and Add. Keri and I had to walk through HEB with our flip-flops the nail place game us...we definitely got some stares and comments, it was pretty funny. When we got back to the apartment we made Pioneer Woman's lasagna and a really yummy strawberry cake I found on Pinterest. We went to bed late that night after watching the rest of The Help. Meanwhile, Add to had to work and hung out with friends for a night. I don't know why he didn't want to hang out with 5 girls for 2 days?? Anyways, Saturday morning it was time for them to pack up and go. We had SO much fun. I am so thankful for them and that they packed up and came here in a day's notice just so I could see them.

What a lovely weekend. I hope you had a great one too!
