Moments like this...

I had such an eventful weekend! I say "I" because Addison had to work all weekend. :(  The weekend started off with going to Katy on Friday to stay with Addison's family. I love how I can just pick and go stay with my in-law's by myself and feel completely comfortable. I am so blessed by all of them. Friday night we decorated for my Ashlee's baby shower that was happening the following day. I forgot to take pictures of the decorations but everything turned out very cute! Saturday we got ready for the shower to begin! It's funny how I've only been married two and half months but I was already missing Addison so much. It makes me realize how blessed I am to have him and how much he means to me. (he was back in College Station) The shower turned out so wonderful. Ashlee had family and friends there to shower her and Annalee with love and gifts.

After the shower Lauren picked me up and we headed to the U of H football game. It was so  much fun, and Case did awesome!

On Sunday , Addison and I went to church as usual and then baked a little bit. We gathered up all
my silver, took a little nap and then headed over to Lauren's house where everyone was waiting! The anticipation was killing me...I couldn't wait to see her!! Kate (Lauren's roommate) did such an amazing job decorating  their backyard for the engagement party. Everything looked so beautiful.

I was very happy to be apart of this special day.

Showing off her new bling!! Congrats Lauren!!!

What a wonderful weekend! We hope you have a blessed week!

I can feel you Fall!

With temperatures here in College Station below 80 degrees this week, this means that fall is finally here! Fall to me means, colder temperatures, cute fall clothes, pumpkin spice lattes, big sweatshirts and tights and lots of comfort food! Now back to the first meaning of fall...fall clothes. I LOVE dressing for fall/winter, it makes me so happy. Being married however has made me realize that I can do other things with our money than buying cute new fall clothes, so I have opted out of a Fall shopping trip this year. However, when I was home a few weeks ago I just so happened to find a JCrew giftcard laying around the house. It was my lucky day. So to add to my closet here a few new Fall pieces I am waiting on to reach my doorstep...

This cute top in navy

And this one in black and white (Addison said he is going to call me his little jail bird)

So with all that being said, I am super excited to start dressing for colder weather. Colder weather also reminds me of football! We haven't had a cool football game yet but here is a picture of last weeks from the white-out game.

Still in shorts and a short sleeve shirt.

This was the event for Saturday, like usual. Going back a few days...this past week was a very busy week for me and Addison with tests and work. Somehow we always get through them though! Weekends are really mine and Addison's time to be with each other because we are so incredibly busy during the week. We also like to spend time with family on the weekends whenever possible. Friday night Addison and I went out to eat with his parents and some of his friends at Fish Daddy's and it was very good! Saturday after the game we relaxed at his sisters house and had good food and fellowship. Sunday we went to church, starting with our Sunday school class. There are about five other couples that are in the class but we just so happened to be the only couple to show up. We got a "private lesson" from our Sunday school leaders. I mean how often are Addison and I going to ever get a chance again to be vulnerable with two other couples that are in their tenth year of marriage or so and learn about what a Godly marriage should look like.  It was so awesome. We talked about what the Bible says about communication, we really got a lot out of the lesson and continued to talk about all the way home. We were pretty lazy the rest of the Sunday and went to bed pretty early because we always have early morning Mondays.
Addison had work and class today...I babysat from 9-5 like every Monday and then made this delicious meal for dinner...

Ok so it doesn't look like much but it was good! All it is is 2 cups shell pasta, 2 cups picante sauce, 2 cups chicken and 2 cups mexican cheese all mixed together. Cook at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. So simple yet so delicious! Addison is at the library and I have a test tomorrow which means I need to be studying instead of typing...I love how blogging can take my mind off of things for a while. Now back to reality.

Hope you have a blessed week.

Back to Reality

My Grandmother ended up passing on Monday, October 3. Luckily I was babysitting, like every Monday and Wednesday, so the girls kept me entertained and going throughout the day. I knew I needed to get home as soon as possible so my sweet Father-In-Law flew down to College Station to come get me and flew me back to Abilene. He is so amazing, I don't know what my family would have done without him. My Mom and Dad were so happy to finally have me home so we could all be together and start planning the funeral. For the next couple days I was busy putting together a video slideshow and a speech for the day of. It was a very bittersweet time for us all...knowing that Grandmama would never be with us again but also knowing that she wasn't suffering anymore and that she is in a way better place.

Addison and I came home yesterday (Sunday) and it was back to reality. We dumped out our bags and there clothes lining our whole hallway and into our room. I will being doing laundry forever. Addison has a lot of work and homework this week and I have 3 tests and a quiz. Welcome to the life of a college student.

It is taking some time to adjust to a life without my Grandmama but I will keep her memories with me forever and will always tell my kids about her. For now I will continue to follow the Lord's plan for mine and Addison's life even though we obviously have no idea what it entails sometimes! I pray you have a blessed week.

Pray

Addison and I had a pretty slow weekend. Friday we were planning on going to Katy to spend some time with his oldest sister, Amy and brother-in-law Matt when we got the news that my sweet Grandmama was not doing very well... Grandmama had been diagnosed with cancer a little before the wedding; being her strong self she didn't harvest too much on it which made me think it was just going to be a little phase in her life that she was going to get through and then move on. She had planned to start chemo a couple weeks after wedding (with two different doctors opinions) and that way she was able to dance all night long at the wedding, feeling great. I have some amazing pictures that my photographer took of us dancing the night away, I didn't realize how extremely thankful I was going to be to have those. When she received her first round of chemo she felt fine for a little bit but then things took a turn for the worst....she went to the hospital because she wasn't getting enough nutrients. After not getting better we moved her to Hendrick's in Abilene. From there she was careflighted to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas where she still is. The doctor's at Baylor found out that my Grandmama lacks an enzyme that normally breaks the chemo down (which is why a normal person needs 4 or 5 rounds of it to kill the cancer cells), this means that the chemo kept circulating and circulating throughout her body, literally killing almost everything. Since then, she got pneumonia, arrhythmia in her heart and many other things. She had to be ventilated last week to give her heart a rest. She also had 2 strokes and has 3 more blood clots in her brain. She had an MRI last night (Saturday night) and we are waiting to find out the results later today, which from the looks of it there are going to have to be some hard decisions made.

Saturday was a really tough day for me. I cried basically all day long knowing that I wouldn't have my Grandmama with me much longer. Addison and I went furniture shopping for a TV console for our living room and I'm pretty sure I even cried in the stores. We thought this would take my mind off of things for a little bit. When we got back things got even worse and I'm sorry to say but I cried myself to sleep and slept for three hours. When I woke up I had a clearer mind and was able to think things through better. This is by far one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through. My Grandmama has taught me so many things...not to take yourself too seriously, to always love, how to be giving, she taught me how to sow and so many other things. Being the only girl in my family and the only grand-daughter, you can only imagine how close we are. I don't know what I am going to do without my sweet Grandmother. I love her more than words could ever say.

I would normally not write something so personal but I need your help. I need prayer. I believe that only through prayer am I going to be able to pick up my feet and move on without her. My husband has been so sweet, praying over me and listening to me cry and talk about her. Thank you to those who have stuck around to read this. I appreciate you.

Here are a few pictures...

The week of the wedding.

To all those who are close to me, I love you, and I pray I never take you for granted. Call your grandparents and tell them you love them. You never know how much longer you'll have them.
